Free tennis sessions in Exeter are going down a treat, with 33 people attending the first sessions of the new season in St Thomas.

However there’s still space for people to join in, with players advised to register online for the sessions on the public tennis courts at Cowick Barton Playing Fields.

The sessions are held every Saturday morning, with a free family session (parents and their children) from 8am until 8:45am and a Tennis for Free (TFF) session for adults only from 9am until 10am.

The sessions are being e delivered by Tennis for Free Lead Coach Steve Ashton.

Steve said: “The response has been great and it’s lovely to see so many people back enjoying these sessions, but there’s still room, so if you’re interested, do sign up.”

Cowick Barton isn’t the only place in Exeter where the TFF sessions are being run.

Sessions also take place at the City-Council run courts in Heavitree Pleasure Grounds. The sessions which have been continuing over the winter, are run by LTA coach Bradley Rickard, and take place on Saturday mornings between 10am and 11am.

Bradley said: “Heavitree is currently the highest attended session in the country and we'd happily welcome more new faces!”

The weekly sessions (apart from the 8am family sessions at Cowick) are run by national sports charity Tennis For Free in partnership with the LTA and Exeter City Council.
