Free bus travel on offer in Devon to mark World Car Free Day

Published: 20 September 2024

World Car Free Day World Car Free Day

This Sunday 22 September is World Car Free Day and to mark the occasion Stagecoach are offering free bus travel on most routes across Devon.

The offer is being delivered through the DevonBus Partnership, in conjunction with our bus operators – Stagecoach, Tally Ho, Dartline, Torbay Buses and Filers Travel.

Devon County Council is supporting the event using Bus Service Improvement Plan funding provided by the Department for Transport.

It’s an ideal way to explore the county this weekend and is designed to encourage more people to use the bus to explore their local area, visit family and friends and enjoy the stunning coast and countryside without worrying about transport costs.

Travelling by bus instead of private car helps to cut congestion and pollution on our roads and lowers the county’s carbon footprint.

The routes included in this offer cover a wide area across Devon and detailed information about the specific routes and timetables can be found on the Travel Devon website: www.traveldevon.info/bus/latest-news-service-updates/world-car-free-day-2024/

For anyone travelling by bus at any other time, all bus journeys are still capped at a £2 single fare until December 2024.

Our friends at Visit Exeter have created a blog to give ideas for some car free days out from Exeter that allow users to sit back and discover Devon’s rich history, coastline and natural beauty, by bus.
