Flybe collapse – City Council sets up job fair in Exeter

Published: 6 March 2020

The job fair is open to everyone

A jobs fair is being held in Exeter to support those affected by the collapse of city-based airline Flybe.

The event is being held on Tuesday (10 March) at Exeter Corn Exchange and has been organised by Exeter City Council following Flybe going into administration.

Everyone is welcome to attend – not just former employees of Flybe - and can turn up on the day. The Council is also looking for more employers to come along to the event.

A number of big companies and recruitment agencies have already booked a place at the jobs fair, including BT, the NHS and Screwfix. Proud to Care will also be attending, bringing along advice and information about careers in health and social care.

Council Leader Phil Bialyk said he was “devastated” by the collapse of Flybe and was keen to do everything possible for all those affected. Around 1,000 people have lost their jobs in Exeter and about 2,500 nationally.

The jobs fair runs from 10am until 2pm at the Corn Exchange. Employers wanting to take part can register by going to the Eventbrite website
