Five Nights of Lights: Christmas 2019 in Exeter

This year Exeter will celebrate the start of the Christmas season with a special five-day event series, Five Nights of Lights. Taking place across the city from 13-17 November, the festive event will see the Christmas lights go live in all quarters of the city, along with street entertainment, live music and one-off events.
The new format community events will have Exeter’s residents and visitors at their heart, celebrating the city’s heritage, culture, its vibrant businesses and putting the city at centre stage. Funded by InExeter, the city’s business improvement district, both Five Nights of Lights and an ongoing programme of entertainment, illuminations and festive celebrations leading up to Christmas, will give residents and businesses an extra festive flavour this Christmas.
Ann Hunter, InExeter manager said; “This year we are proud to celebrate our city with the new Five Nights of Lights event. This new format sees InExeter celebrate all quarters of the city and encourages people to explore and discover the different areas of Exeter. The 2019 festivities look set to bring a new Christmas experience with the city our stage.”
Five Nights of Lights will begin on Wednesday 13 November with a special street event taking place across South Street, North Street and around Cathedral Green. Subsequent city celebrations include a Christmas Carnival theme on Queen Street and Gandy Street along with The Guildhall Shopping and Dining on Thursday 14 November; Stars at Sidwell and Paris Street on Friday 15 November; Family Christmas Fair on Castle Street and High Street and Princesshay on Saturday 16 November and Fore Street Festive Flea on Sunday 17 November. New for 2019 is a series of exciting building illuminations which will shine a light on all areas of the city.
Visitors to the city can also look forward to enjoying some Christmassy fun organised by sponsor, Crealy Adventure Park and Resort. Christmas is a very exciting time for so many and at Crealy we have an amazing, festive line up for all the family to enjoy!”
The five late night shopping evenings leading up to Christmas, start on Thursday 21st November,
when many of Exeter’s shops will stay open until 9pm and that date will also see Gandy Street celebrate their traditional ‘Countdown to Christmas’.
