A Kenyan Fairtrade tea grower will be the guest speaker at a conference in Exeter to celebrate 30 years of Fairtrade.

Patrick Kaberia Muthaura will be giving an insight into Fairtrade tea production at the 30th Anniversary Conference on Saturday 14 September.

The conference gets underway at 10am and runs until 3pm at Exeter Community Centre in St David’s Hill, Exeter.

The free event, which is organised by Fairtrade Devon & South West, is open to everyone and includes lunch. Donations are requested.

The conference is a chance to celebrate the achievements of Fairtrade over the past 30 years and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Fairtrade over the next five years.

It is also a chance to meet people passionate about Fairtrade, create new networks and learn something new.

Cllr Matt Vizard, Lead Councillor for Climate, Ecological Change and Communities, said: “In Exeter we’re proud to support Fairtrade and this free conference is a great opportunity for people to celebrate the achievements of the last 30 years and find out what’s in store for the future.”
