Exeter prepares to fall silent to remember the dead Service of Remembrance at Higher Cemetery

Exeter will fall silent tomorrow for those who died in the two world wars and all conflicts since, with the 102nd commemoration of Armistice Day.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Exeter’s Higher Cemetery, where a two-minute silence will be observed to remember the dead.

The past Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Peter Holland, will lay a wreath in memory of the fallen, along with representatives of the military.

The weekend will see further events throughout the city during a weekend of remembrance.

On Saturday, City Council Leader Phil Bialyk will attend the dedication of the Royal British Legion Field of Remembrance at the Cathedral Green at 11am. And in the afternoon, the Leader will also attend the Wreath Laying Remembrance Service at Exeter City Football Club’s St James Park ground.

On Sunday morning at 10am the Lord Mayor, Cllr Trish Oliver, will attend the city’s Remembrance Service in Northernhay Gardens, where she will lay a wreath.

At 10:20am on Sunday the past Lord Mayor, Cllr Peter Holland, will attend the Devon County Remembrance Day Service at Exeter Cathedral Green and Cathedral.
