Exeter Partnership to explore strategies for delivering key city priorities

Published: 24 October 2024

The Exeter Partnership will come together to discuss and develop innovative strategies to drive forward the city’s key priorities, ensuring a brighter and more sustainable future for Exeter and its communities.

The Partnership will focus on key areas including culture, climate, housing, the city centre, and health, with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation to achieve meaningful outcomes for Exeter.

The Exeter Partnership has evolved from the work initiated by the former Exeter Place Board, following a comprehensive review.

The Partnership operates independently of the City Council, with its own terms of reference. Members generously volunteer their time, while the City Council offers support through administrative assistance.

The Partnership is not a decision-making body. Discussions are open and transparent, and information shared at meetings is published online.

The Exeter Partnership comprises of Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Exeter College, University of Exeter, Network Rail, GWR, Exeter City Council, Devon County Council, Met Office, Exeter City Community Trust, Exeter Chiefs, Exeter Cathedral, Exeter Chamber of Commerce, Colab, Sport England, InExeter, Devon and Cornwall Police, Police and Crime Commissioner, Homes England, Devon Community Foundation, Oxygen House, Jobcentre Plus, Earl of Devon, Steve Race MP, David Reed MP, Focus Training, Live West and Arts Council England.

The Partnership will actively support other key stakeholders in achieving their goals, whenever those priorities align with Exeter’s vision, fostering collaboration for the benefit of the entire city.

Bindu Arjoon, Chief Executive of Exeter City Council, said: “The Exeter Partnership brings together the city’s key stakeholders to focus on the broader opportunities to shape Exeter in the future.

“Members will work together in an open and collaborative way, to engage communities to understand better their aspirations for the city and how we can work with them to ensure Exeter’s continued success.”

The Exeter Partnership will be co-chaired by Fiona Carden, Chief Executive of Colab, and Lord Charles Courtenay, the Earl of Devon.

Fiona said: “This partnership approach brings incredible benefits to Exeter and I’m thrilled to serve as Co-Chair of the Exeter Partnership. I eagerly anticipate the exciting work ahead as we come together to make a positive impact for our city.”

Charles said: “Throughout its long history, Exeter has only benefitted when its key stakeholders work together collaboratively to support the city.  I am delighted that this tradition has been formalised with the Exeter Partnership.

“The Partnership has a dedicated focus on supporting quality of life for all and I look forward to doing what I can to deliver our shared priorities for the city.”
