Published: 13 April 2021

Leisure centres in Exeter have started to welcome back their members, with plans to invite pay as you go, casual users back soon , Exeter Leisure has announced.

Following latest government guidance, Exeter Leisure, which is run by Exeter City Council, reopened its facilities this week.

Due to restrictions still in place, the reopening will be phased, with all gyms, pools and racket facilities open initially for individual or household group use only, followed by group exercise classes and group sporting activities from 17 May and casual users back in centres from the summer.

Exeter Leisure has an exciting few months coming up with both the reopening of the ‘wet side’ facilities at Riverside Leisure Centre, and the opening of the brand new St Sidwell’s Point Leisure Complex, both expected to open their doors this summer.

The ‘wet side’ facilities at Riverside Leisure Centre will consist of a 25-metre swimming pool, learner pool and health suite.

St Sidwell’s Point will be the UK’s first super energy-efficient leisure complex built to Passivhaus standards, with a significantly reduced carbon footprint.

It will comprise of a 25-metre, eight lane competition pool, learner pool, confidence pool, fully equipped gym, two fitness studios, indoor cycling studio and an exclusive spa with private roof terrace.

St Sidwell’s Point will replace the aging Pyramids Leisure Centre, and will join the other five centres in forming the Exeter Leisure membership.
