Exeter Citizen set to pop through city letterboxes Exeter Citizen

The Summer edition of the Exeter Citizen pops through letterboxes throughout the city this week, five weeks after its original scheduled date, due to the snap General Election.

The City Council publication was due to hit the streets on 3 June, but the publication had to be held back after the government announced in May that a General Election was to be held on 4 July.

Unfortunately the Citizen had already gone to press, making some of the content out-of-date.

A spokesman for the Council said: “The summer edition always carries information about some of the big summer events happening across the city. Unfortunately, due to the publication being unavoidably held back for five weeks, some of these events like the Respect Festival and Armed Forces Day will have passed.

“It’s not ideal but we had no other choice as we have to abide by regulations in the pre-election period.

“Nevertheless, the publication still carries key information such as recycling hints and tips and how to get in touch with your ward councillor. The Summer edition also has a feature on the new Lord Mayor and his chosen charity, a feature on the Exeter Community Lottery and much, much more.”

Also included in the publication – and timely during Wimbledon fortnight – is a feature on free tennis sessions across the city.
