Market lovers have plenty to make their hearts sing this weekend, with two exciting events in Exeter city centre.

Things get underway on Saturday (14 September) with the Exeter Independent Market on the Cathedral Green, followed by the popular Fore Street Flea on Sunday (15 September).

Saturday’s Exeter Independent Market runs from 11am until 4pm with organisers promising ‘…the best of Exeter and the South West’.

Marketgoers can soak up the unique atmosphere of Cathedral Green with live music from local performers, while discovering a rich variety of the region’s finest makers and traders.

There’ll be handmade crafts, clothes and accessories on sale, as well as locally produced food and drink and vintage treasures. Exeter Independent Market offers a unique one-stop shop in the heart of the city.

Then on Sunday, it’s the turn of the Fore Street Flea. Taking place in the heart of Exeter's West Quarter, the much-loved community event promises a day of excitement, discovery and celebration.

Originating in 2016 as a grassroots initiative by local businesses along Fore Street, the Fore Street Flea has since become a cherished tradition in Exeter.

Now organised by InExeter, the Business Improvement District for Exeter, the event continues to thrive, supporting local businesses and nurturing a vibrant community spirit. This is the third Fore Street Flea of the year, with another lined up for Sunday 17 November.

The bustling street market, which runs from 12-4pm, has earned a reputation as a haven for bargain hunters, offering a diverse array of one-of-a-kind treasures and local gems. From vintage fashion to handmade crafts, collectibles, sweet treats and more, there’s something for everyone.

In addition to the vibrant market there will be live music provided by Music In Devon Initiative through the MIDI Stages project situated outside The Music Depot.

This initiative, in partnership with InExeter, has been made possible through Youth Music’s Trailblazer fund and empowers young musicians in Devon by offering them performance opportunities and a platform to gain valuable experience.
