A charity that cares for trees is encouraging people to enjoy one tree this May.

The Tree Council is asking people in Exeter to take a picture or a video of a tree and post it up online to inspire and uplift others during these difficult times.

People can still get out and about in line with government guidance and daily exercise as long as they respect social distancing guidelines.

The Tree Council said: “May is usually walk in the woods month here at The Tree Council, and while many of us are getting out and about for our daily exercise, not all our usual haunts are open/accessible. For others, our health means we must isolate indoors. And yet, just one tree can be a source of inspiration and reflection.

“So we’re encouraging everyone who safely can, to go out and enjoy just one tree, and share it on social media to inspire and uplift others using #WalkWhereYouMay.

“It could be a tree in your garden, or on the street outside your house. Or it could be in the local green space where you go for your daily exercise.

”Choose one tree. Stop and appreciate it. Take a photo or video to explain what you learned from that tree.”

People can then go onto Twitter to see everyone else’s pictures and stories using the hashtag #WalkWhereYouMay
