Donate items to charity with new doorstep collection service Anglo Doorstep Collections

People in Exeter can now donate items to charity by booking a doorstep collection.

The Council has partnered up with Anglo Doorstep Collections for the initiative. Anglo can take clothing, shoes, small electricals, toys, tools, ornaments, books, and more. The items will be passed on for reuse where they are really needed, and residents can choose from a list of charities to support.

Cllr Ruth Williams, Lead Councillor for City Management, said: “This is another way we are supporting people in the city to reduce waste by recycling and reusing as much as possible. This is a free service offered by Anglo Doorstep Collections and is open to everyone in the city. It will particularly help residents who might struggle to take items to a charity shop.”

“All the items collected will be weighed and will count towards Exeter’s recycling rate,” she added.

Booking a collection is easy. Simply go online, enter a postcode and book a slot. Then all people need to do is bag or box up their items suitably, ready for collection.

Residents can leave the items on their doorstep on collection day, but if they would prefer they can keep them inside and the driver will come to the front door.

Cllr Williams added: “This is not a bulky waste collection service. If anyone requires a collection of furniture or other larger items of waste, I would encourage them to book a separate collection on the bulky waste collections page of our website.”
