Deep Clean Team follow up

Published: 15 November 2019

Keeping Exeter looking good

Our story about the Deep Clean Team attracted a lot of interest. People were keen to find out which parts of Exeter the Team were doing.

The Deep Clean Team run by Exeter City Council makes short work of weed clearance and smartening up the city streets.

Two teams, one in the north and one in the south of the city, use special weed-ripping  machines to remove stubborn and unsightly weeds growing up through the cracks.

A blowing machine then blows the dead weeds and grime into a pile before being sucked up by an industrial vacuum cleaner. The result is clean and weed–free streets.

Where can you expect to see the Deep Clean Team?

This is a rolling programme starting with the arterial routes and main roads such as Exwick Rd and Alphington Road and then moving into residential areas once these have been completed.

Once the City has been completed, the Team we will move into a schedule where arterial routes get deep cleaned annually and residential areas will be cleaned on a three-year cycle. In between residential treatments, residents can expect periodic visits from both mechanical sweepers and sweepers with Max Vac cleaners which will capitalise on the Team’s hard work.

We can’t be specific about the actual areas but suffice to say we’re working on keeping Exeter looking good.
