Leader Phil Bialyk has given an insight into the work of the Council at this challenging time and what it’s like to lead the authority while confined to home.

In an interview with BBC Radio Devon’s Jo Loosemoor, Cllr Bialyk highlighted the success of the Exeter Community Wellbeing initiative, which matches those in need of help with people on the ground able to provide it.

The Council has also made £1.1 million available to community groups and organisations helping vulnerable residents to deal with the impact of the virus.

The Leader said a huge range of local organisations, including Exeter City Football Club and Exeter Chiefs, were involved in the community work.

Cllr Bialyk said he couldn’t wait for the day when he could enjoy a drink again at his local pub – but he again reminded people of the need to stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.
