Community Infrastructure Levy hearing date announced

Community Infrastructure Levy hearing date announced Community Infrastructure Levy

An Examination hearing for the Exeter City Council Community Infrastructure Levy review has now been arranged for 4 July at Exeter Civic Centre.

Anyone who provided formal comments as part of the previous public consultation can request to speak at the hearing.

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge that local developers pay, based on the size and nature of the project they’re working on. The levy helps provide funding for infrastructure and community projects in Exeter.

The system was established in 2013 to ensure that growth in Exeter is managed responsibly. The money from the CIL is directly invested into improving our city's infrastructure and community services.

From December 2022 to January 2023 there was a public consultation on the proposed alterations to the CIL charges. The hearing session will take the form of a "round table" discussion led by the examiner and will be based on the responses already provided during the consultation.  The hearing does not provide the opportunity for new responses to be submitted.

Depending on the outcome of the examination, the Council will be looking to implement the new CIL rates in late 2023.

The CIL Draft Charging Schedule and supporting evidence are still available to view at: https://exeter.gov.uk/planning-services/payments-from-developers/community-infrastructure-levy-cil/community-infrastructure-levy-review/

This submission documentation will also be available at the reception of the civic centre and in all public libraries.
