Community groups urged to sign up for Exeter Community Lottery Community groups urged to sign up

There’s still time for community groups, charities and good causes to sign up to the Exeter Community Lottery and help raise vital funds.

A number of groups of various shapes and sizes have already signed up to get a slice of the ticket proceeds when the lottery begins later this summer. More than 50 good causes took part in an online launch of the lottery, which has been initiated by the City Council.

Exeter Community Lottery is a new fundraising initiative and a great way for people to support good causes while having fun and getting the chance to win cash prizes, including a weekly top prize of £25,000.

A guaranteed 60 per cent of the ticket proceeds from the Exeter Community Lottery will go to charities, voluntary organisations, community interest companies and other not-for-profit groups, with the remainder being put towards prizes and operating costs.

Cllr Martin Pearce, Lead Councillor for Communities, said at the launch: “The money raised by the Exeter Community Lottery is going to make a lot of difference to grassroots good causes. I would encourage all charities and community groups to sign up and start fundraising with our lottery.

“Councils around the country have found that launching community lotteries is a great way of raising funds for good causes, who do so much great work in our communities, and I know it will be a big success in Exeter.”

Good causes interested in benefiting from the Exeter Community Lottery can register and find out more at exetercommunitylottery.co.uk
