Community engagement to start on Exeter's bid to be a Net Zero Carbon city

Published: 4 February 2020

County engagement is set to get underway

Community engagement around Exeter's bid to become a Net Zero Carbon city by 2030 gets underway later this month.

Local arts organisation Encounters hosts a series of community drop-in events across the city during February and March.

They will discuss the Blueprint for a Net Zero Exeter, and identify the everyday challenges and barriers we’ll need to overcome together.

People of all ages and backgrounds, living or working in Exeter, are invited to a community drop-in event to explore what becoming a carbon neutral city could mean for individuals, organisations, communities and the city as a whole.

These events will be informal, creative and friendly. Led by local arts organisation, Encounters, they will take place in its mobile community space Chrysalis (pictured above) in locations across the city in February and March. Everyone is welcome.

The information shared at these events will provide ideas and information vital to developing the shared city roadmap to a carbon neutral Exeter, at the Net Zero Exeter Mobilisation Summit on 26 March, at Exeter City Football Club.

Initial dates and locations have been set as:

Friday 21 February

9.30am to 12 noon at The Beacon Community Centre

Saturday 22 February

9.30am to 5pm at Cathedral Green (@ The Big Green Event)
