Cleansing crews keeping city centre streets clean and safe

Published: 21 April 2020

Workers from Exeter City Council are scrubbing the city centre from top to bottom whilst there aren’t so many people around during ‘lockdown’.

Cleansing teams are taking full advantage of the empty streets to give everything a good clean during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Not only will the city centre be clean for residents and visitors when the restrictions are lifted, the high temperature of water from the pressure washers is hot enough – up to 150 degrees - to more than kill and viruses on hard surfaces.

The teams are pressure washing all street furniture and paving slabs in city centre streets as well as washing down bins and scrubbing pavements.

The City Council is committed to keeping the city looking good and remaining safe during COVID-19 and for the future days ahead.
