999 Day 999 Day

Civic leaders in Exeter have come together in support of our blue light services to mark Emergency Services Day.

9am on the 9th day of the 9th month is a fitting date to pay tribute to the work of the 999 Services in Exeter and throughout the UK.

Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Peter Holland, described the 999 Services as “heroic men and women”.

“It is members of the Blue Light Services who have and continue to keep our community safe and protect us from danger,” he said.

“Their dedication and exceptional level of commitment is second to none,” he added.

Cllr Holland joined with the Leader of the Council, Cllr Phil Bialyk, in thanking the Blue Light Services for providing a support network across the city during the Coronavirus pandemic, along with schools, community groups and associations.

Cllr Bialyk thanked everyone in the city for pulling together during the pandemic, including council workers, postal workers and those in shops and supermarkets.

“It’s fantastic that as a city we can all work together so well. My appreciation goes out to everyone in the community who has stretched out an arm to help someone else,” he added.
