Anyone not on Electoral Register must act fast to keep the right to vote

People in Exeter still have time to register to vote in the local elections on 2 May – but they need to act quickly.

Those who are not yet on the electoral register can register to vote at gov.uk/register-to-vote. The deadline for registering to vote in the 2 May elections is 11.59pm on Tuesday 16 April.
Anyone who is unable or does not wish to vote at a polling station can apply to vote by post instead at exeter.gov.uk/postalvotes.

Anyone who has a postal vote will not be able to vote at a polling station, even if they do not use the postal vote. The deadline for applying for a postal vote in the 2 May elections is 5pm on Wednesday 17 April.

Everyone voting in person at a polling station, including those acting as a proxy on behalf of another individual, will be required to produce an accepted form of photographic ID to prove their identity before they can be issued with a ballot paper.

Anyone who does not have a type of photo ID that allows them to vote, can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate at gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate. The deadline for applying for a voter ID in the 2 May election is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April.
